General Report

The 3rd Forum of Asian Graphic Arts Technology

The 3rd FAGAT took place from October 29 to November 1, 1998 in Bangkok, Thailand.
The main theme "How to Approach Full Digitalization ", Seven countries made great successfully concluded under the Chairman, Dr. Vichai Payackso Ph.D.
Thai Print'98, ThaiPack Print'98 and InterPlas'98 was held at the same time.

  4. Presentation of 3rd FAGAT'98 flag, to the next host country
    The concept:
    First of all, the one-quartered globe illustrated at the top left-hand corner of the picture represents the Asia Continent, which is abounding in natural resources to be developed and utilized for future prosperity.
    Then, the background blue gradually changing from lighter to deeper hue stands for the continuously strengthened unity of cooperative FAGAT member countries.
    Finally, the five different hues of the acronym FAGAT Symbolize the four main process Ink colors in printing, that is, cyan, magenta, yellow, and black and an additional green color representing the environment concern.
    It will be announced and used from 4th FAGAT in Beijing.

2. The 4th Forum of Asian Graphic Arts Technology

    Opening day /October 11, 1999 in celebration of new China , 50th anniversary of national foundation.

3. Issuance of the Information Report

  1. China, Japan and Korea published their report and distributed to FAGAT members.
  2. Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand published their journal in English and native languages for their local members.
  3. The conclusion for questionnaire of Information Report of Japan.
    It decided to do continuing publishing and distribute with as much as possible.

  1. Organizing technical committee: refer to 2nd Forum, proposed by Korea. JAPAN suggested this issue. The proposal is under deliberation in 4th FAGAT
  2. Technical cooperation scheme: Proposed by Korea
    (1) Member countries should cooperate in developing the printing technology and management. Inviting experts to conduct training courses for member countries who want it can do this. Country posed high printing technology standard and quality can also help train technicians or instructors from other member countries. Expenses on travel and accommodation to be borne by the member countries that asked for the training assistance.
    (2)Due to the fast changes in printing technology, printing textbook is therefore necessary for the development of all those professionals in the printing industry. For example JAGAT's textbook which is very useful. If any member countries want to translate into their own language, this should be granted at no copyright charge.
