It is the best season in October in Beijing for its blue sky and fine weather. On our celebration of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, we will anticipate the opening of 4th Annual Meeting of the Forum of Asia Graphic Arts Technology.
At present, we are crossing to the new millennium. The financial crises are hitting most Asian countries to different extent and the printing industry can not be kept away from that. The FAGAT'99 will provide the opportunity for the member countries to exchange how to face such grim reality and prospect for the new millennium as well as how to grasp the opportunity and meet the challenge. It would also be a grand meeting for all the friends in the printing industry - experts, scholars and entrepreneurs from the member countries and other countries on invitation to get-together, to exchange the information, to swap the graphic arts, to talk about the cooperation and to enhance the friendship between each other.
The theme of the forum this year is:
(1) Opportunity and challenge for the printing industry brought by digitalization
(2) The way to increase the printing productivity and to decrease the cost
(3) The professional class structure of the printing industry and fundamental technology in each country
I hope the participants will choose different topics around this theme and integrate with certain situation of their own country or Asian regions. The presentations and speeches will be expected in high level in order to gain the proper effect for this year's annual meeting.
Chinese government always pay her attention to the printing industry. Both the Press and Publication Administration of the People's Republic of China and the Ministry of Science and Technology give their support and look forward to the Forum to be held in Beijing on time. We believe, with the help of the friends from the printing industry in Asian countries, China can for sure make the 4th annual meeting of the Forum of Asia Graphic Arts Technology successful. We are looking forward to and will sincerely welcome all the friends in the printing industry of Asian countries to meet in Beijing.
