fromU for MacOS

Description:

fromU converts the encoding of the file(s) from UTF to Shift-JIS.

fromU has been developed by KISI,KAZUTAKA.

fromU for MacOS can run under MacOS ver.7.5.5 and later.

fromU for MacOS was built by KISI using Metrowerks CodeWarrior IDE ver.3.0.

The version number of the binary is 1.0 alpha.

The application type of binary is PowerPC.

Please send me the bug report.

Install:

Place this program into the folder you prefer.

Launch:

1. Drag and drop the input file(s) on the icon of fromU.
2. fromU then runs, reads the file(s), and writes the file(s) converted.
3. When you double-click the icon of fromU, fromU shows the help.

Note that toU and fromU handle data as follows:

Environment variables:

In fromU for MacOS, environment variables are expressed by a text file that is named `%UCONV%'.

Place it in the same folder where fromU exists.

%UCONV% can express multiple lines.

Each line expresses single assignment such as `switch'.

When the initial character is `#' or the line is null, the line means nothing.

Switch	Specification
UTF8	converts UTF-8 to Shift-JIS (default)
UTF16	converts UTF-16 to Shift-JIS
BOM	appends BOM (Byte Order Mark)
MacOS	applies Shift-JIS encoding in MacOS (default)
Windows	applies Shift-JIS encoding in MS-Windows
DISPLAY	displays text data
VERBOSE	displays the details in the process
QUIT	pauses when quiting
SAVE	shows the dialog when quiting
BACKUP	saves the original file named another

For example,

    UTF8
    MacOS
    BACKUP
