The 5th Forum of Asian Graphic Arts Technology


General Report

The 5th FAGAT ended the latter half of the raining season in Manila, Philippine on September 18, 2000. It was indeed unfortunate that Malaysia could not attend on their unavoidable circumstances, but some 80 members from other nation assembled for FAGAT meeting.

Introduction of delegates and declaration of opening by Mr. Melanio S. Torio of FAGAT Organizing Committee. Welcome speech from congressman, Hon.Leonardo Verceles ,Jr ' Infrastructure is not check up yet in Philippine, but many young people have a great knowledge of IT. I am confident that IT will bring reformation of Printing Technology since then Gutenberg. Philippine Government opens market for foreign capital. Printing technology get a large percentage for multi-media. I hope that FAGAT will bring outstanding for new economy. '- summary

    1)Seventh World Print Congress will be held in Beijing, China on May 2001.
    2)We find difficulty for carry on FAGAT meeting in the same year of the 7th World Print Congress
    3)Decided to skip in 2001
    5.Invitation to other country for 6th FAGAT
    Conclusion
    1)Australia will be invite in 2002 FAGAT( Recommendation by Singapore)
    2)North Korea will be invite in 2002 FAGAT( Recommendation by Korea)
    6.Role of business contact for smoothly exchanging of each nation
    Conclusion
    Proposal from China and Thailand have given us with their opinion for office of FAGAT management only, but under the resent circumstances, it is not take their opinion.

    The 7th International Print Graphic Art and Sign-Making Technology Exhibition was held by Philippine Printing Technical Foundation(PPTF)and Screen-printing and Imaging Graphic Association of the Philippines(SIGAP)
    FAGAT member of each nation visited 30 - 60 minutes. Some of 40 makers and dealer were attend this exhibition

    President of PPTF, Ms. Eleanor de Gracia was present 'JAGAT-KOMORI-FAGAT Supporting Fund ' of US$ 9,300 from chairman of JAGAT, Mr. Gyozo Ohkuma.
    Mr. Melanio Torio announced about next host country that Singapore takes the 6th FAGAT in 2002.

    PPTF handle a symbol flag of FAGAT over the Singapore and each country exchanged their present. Members swear that seven countries will meet again in 2002 FAGAT
